Summer’s Great Mountain Bike Gathering

For three days, the entire Portes du Soleil area opens up to mountain bike, e-MTB and gravel riders. Thousands of riders explore the 12 French-Swiss resorts along waymarked routes, with refreshment stops and entertainment included, in a friendly atmosphere that officially kicks off the summer season in Les Gets.

A Gathering for Lovers of Fine Machines

Just a few kilometres from Les Gets, the neighbouring resort of Morzine hosts one of the largest Harley-Davidson gatherings in the Alps every summer. Motorcycle parades, concerts, exhibitions and an exhibitors’ village turn the resort into a capital of the open road for a long weekend.

A Festive Day Trip Close to Home

Even if you’re not a biker, it’s worth the trip: the roar of engines echoing through the valley, the warm atmosphere and the free entertainment make it an ideal outing for a day away from Les Gets, easily reached from wherever you’re staying.

For one weekend, the trails of Les Gets become a race course for trail-running enthusiasts. Three distances, from 10.5 to 43 km, let everyone find their own challenge, from beginner runners to seasoned ultra-trailers, along routes that cross some of the resort’s finest viewpoints.

On the first weekend of August, the Perrières car park turns into a spectacular playground for off-road enthusiasts. On marked technical sections, experienced drivers tackle impressive obstacles and climbs, without reversing or losing their line, as part of the French-Swiss 4×4 trial challenge.

Local food, refreshment stands and music accompany the events in a warm atmosphere, open to families and curious visitors alike. The same weekend, the Les Gets Pottery Fair, “fête l’amour”, brings a different, more artisanal energy to the village — a summer that pairs thrills with local craftsmanship.

For one evening, the streets of the old village come alive with long communal tables, street-food stalls and entertainment for the whole family. A warm, popular celebration honouring the authentic spirit of Les Gets, blending conviviality, local flavours and mountain tradition.

The Champions’ Rendezvous

Every summer, Les Gets becomes the world capital of mountain biking by hosting an official round of the UCI World Cup. Over four days, the world’s best riders compete in cross-country short track (XCC), downhill (DHI) and Olympic cross-country (XCO), delivering a spectacular show for extreme sports fans and curious families alike.

A Unique Atmosphere in the Resort

Beyond the competition itself, the resort buzzes with entertainment: an exhibitors’ village, DJ sets, food trucks, demonstrations and meet-and-greets with the athletes create a uniquely festive atmosphere. The Mechanical Music Museum remains an essential cultural landmark, with its unique collection of automatons and instruments spanning the centuries. A world reference for mountain biking and its Bike Park, Les Gets boasts a network of over 120 km of marked trails, complemented by numerous hiking paths and road cycling routes suitable for all levels. The 18-hole golf course, playgrounds and swimming at Lac des Écoles — the Les Gets lake — round out a range of activities designed for sports lovers and families seeking relaxation alike.

To experience the mountains in a different way, paragliding offers panoramic flights facing the Mont-Blanc range, while cani-hiking and white-water sports add a dose of adventure to your stay. An Enchanted Night Walk Through the Forest

Alta Lumina is a magical experience that immerses visitors in a fantastical world, offering a unique immersive adventure found nowhere else in Europe. Deep in the forest after nightfall, visitors follow a one-kilometre illuminated trail through a series of scenes, where the story of a musical peddler tied to the region’s identity is told poetically through light, sound, imagery in all its forms, staging and interactivity.

Along a 1,100-metre track with a 104-metre drop, this run promises unforgettable moments solo or in pairs, whether you’re after speed or a more contemplative ride.

The boldest riders can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h through the banked turns, while those seeking a gentler pace can control their descent and take in the scenery.

An Afternoon of Fun on the Water

At the heart of Lac des Écoles — known locally as the Les Gets lake — the inflatable Wibit aqua park features around forty floating modules: slides, a climbing wall, trampolines and even a human catapult. A refreshing adventure playground for the whole family, complemented by a KidsPark for younger children and a supervised swimming area for a relaxing afternoon by the water.

Accessible by gondola from the village, the summit of Mont Chéry offers one of the finest panoramas in the valley, with uninterrupted views of the Mont-Blanc range. A Unique Local Craft in the Valley

The Mechanical Music Museum in Les Gets houses a rare cultural heritage, unique in Europe. Close to 900 working instruments, some dating back to the 17th century, delight over 35,000 visitors every year. This iconic venue is the 2nd most visited museum in Haute-Savoie.

A true treasure of Gêtois heritage, the Mechanical Music Museum preserves a rare collection of organs, automatons and instruments that come to life before visitors’ eyes. An immersion in an exceptional craft found nowhere else in the region — an essential cultural visit, in summer and winter alike, especially popular with families.

Highlights include the Aeolian philharmonic organ, a listed Historic Monument, the Roger & Gallet automatons, a commemorative carillon from 1860, and a vintage carousel with its 1871 Limonaire organ. The museum has just welcomed a 52-key Limonaire Jazzbandophone, and will unveil Pablo Picasso’s newly restored mechanical piano in summer 2025.
